The Dreams We Have
How many times are you going to let your dreams pass you by? How many times are you going to allow you or someone else make you second guess what you were designed to do? That thing that feels like breathing; that feels like a happy place.
It’s so easy to give up. Especially with some people becoming insta-famous after only a few posts and you’re comparing your journey to everyone else’s. I get it. I feel super behind in so many aspects of my life. I’ve been saying I wanted to be a full time writer for what now seems to be 15 years but I haven’t been consistent. I’ve felt alone on this journey-not because I don’t have any support, but I’ve seen others reach their goals so quickly to the point I thought I was doing something wrong. I felt like maybe I wasn’t a good writer. Who would read my story when there are so many other great books out there. Oh and the question that pops up weekly-do people still read?
For the dreamers of the world, no matter how down we get something on the inside still hopes, still believes it’s possible. Personally, I’ve taken an assessment and notice that I have to put myself out there way more than I have been doing. In my mind I was like, “Okay, write a good book and people will find it and read it.” It was giving, “If you build it, they will come” vibes. Great movie line, not really practical for this situation. So, I’m getting my social media going, going to events even when I’m nervous, talking more about my writing (even though I do not like talking about my life) and building community. I’m also reading and supporting other authors in my genre and that’s been pretty fun.
I don’t know what your dream is and how long it will take you to reach it. I do know that trying things you’ve never done before, building community and saying yes more often than no could not only grow you personally, it can propel you closer than going at it alone. Dreams will just be fantasies unless you work them.
I hope I get to see you on the other side of my dream and when I do I can’t wait to hear how yours came true too.
Love you loves,
CC
